There’s a whole community of custom Lego Minifigures out there, and it’s nice to see WM trying to cater to them as well.
So, will these be considered Lego Knockoffs? No. Other Custom Lego Minifigure designers/sellers simply get official Lego Minifigures then print on them and sell them as 3rd-party custom Lego Minifigures. Of course, the unique molds such as hairpieces and swords won’t be official Lego, but custom Lego Minifigure brands have been doing this already.
Lego plastic is superior to any knockoff or Lego-alternative brand which is why this is enough reason to consider these “official” custom Lego Minifigures. These will be sold at USD15.5 each (except Inosuke at USD21). Pricey? Maybe, but on average, custom Lego Minifigures go for USD50-USD70 each, with designs that have complicated molds (similar to this Demon Slayer set) going for at least USD100.
This is a good sign from WM. We hope that moves like this can continue legitimizing their brand in the Lego community. In fact, many collectors have been purchasing knockoff accessories (but to be more accurate, I don’t want to call them knockoffs as they’re not copying any Lego designs anymore) and putting them on official Lego Minifigures.
WM penetrating the custom Lego Minifigure market could also influence the prices of new custom Minifigures and make them cheaper, allowing for the community to expand!
